District of Columbia v. Heller

Alan Gura serves as lead counsel, in association with co-counsel Robert Levy, Clark Neily, and Gene Healy, in District of Columbia v. Heller. The case is a landmark constitutional challenge to the District of Columbia’s total ban on the possession of all functional firearms and handguns by law-abiding citizens within their own homes. In Washington, D.C., even homeowners who lawfully use firearms in self-defense in cases of home invasion are prosecuted for possessing working firearms, handguns, and the crime of moving a firearm within their own home without a permit to do so.
